Bagrati Cathedral - one of the largest cathedrals in Georgia, which had a significant role in medieval history of Georgia.
It was here that David the Builder was crowned as the king. It was built in 1003, during the reign of King Bagrat III, as the main temple of the United Georgia. With his grandeur and proportions it was a totally new word in Georgian architecture. The temple is built in the name of the Assumption of the Virgin.
